This volume includes six chapters that detail advances in marine biology. Chapter 1 aims to explore the role of elasmobranchs as bioindicators of marine contamination, highlighting the biochemical and physiological effects of various pollutants, contributing to broader ecosystem conservation goals and reinforcing the importance of a One Health approach for a sustainable future. Chapter 2 compares the chemical environments of the ranges of the 10 species of sea eagles, within the larger system of chemical oceanography, acknowledging and investigating the relevance of some species as primarily marine or freshwater inland species, or between both environments. Chapter 3 reviews the main drivers of biogeochemical change in the ecology of the bald eagle and highlights how the eagle adapts to major changes. Chapter 4 discusses the necessity, factors associated with, and issues involved in the harvesting process as well as those in relation to oyster farming. Chapter 5 targets the key issues for further research: advancements in LiDAR technology, more effective platforms for radar technology, sharper resolution of these techniques and satellite imagery, and more powerful GIS-based support. Finally, Chapter 6 gives an overview over the biodiversity of macroalgae in Danish waters as well as highlighting the challenges caused by invasive species.
