This volume contains four chapters that detail advances in criminology and criminal justice studies. Chapter 1 discusses suicide, focusing on the criminal-legal and criminological aspects of suicide among minors. Chapter 2 explores the integration of trauma-informed care (TIC) and strength-based approaches within traditional courtroom settings, with a particular focus on the potential for fostering resilience among justice-involved individuals. Chapter 3 proposes a reconceptualization of self-defense through an integrated framework drawn from comparative criminal law, normative legal theory, and forensic interpretation. Finally, chapter 4 focuses on recidivism, the act of a person committing another crime or coming into conflict with the criminal justice system (CJS) again, often after receiving sanctions or undergoing intervention for a previous crime, and acts as an enquiry into reasons for low recidivism in India.
