Zsuzsanna M. Schmidt has been practicing rheumatology for over 20 years at the National Institute of Rheumatology and Physiotherapy in Budapest and in her private clinic. She wrote her thesis on elderly onset rheumatoid arthritis and achieved the academic degree “Candidate of Sciences” in 1995. Since then, her research has focused on polymyalgia rheumatica, and her database comprises of approximately 150 patients. She is a full member of the EULAR/ACR study group, and she and took part in the PMR classification study in 2012 and therapeutic recommendations in 2015. She has an esteemed reputation in the field with a number of publications, lecturing at international and national conferences, and organizing postgraduate courses. She was requested by one of the most important Hungarian medical publishers, “Medicina,” to write a PMR monography, which was published in 2022. Regarding her most recent publications translated to English, she has written a chapter in “Advances in Medicine and Biology,” titled, “Bursitis in Polymyalgia Rheumatica,” which focused on PMR imaging. Additionally, she has an open access quarterly article on the new concepts of PMR, titled, “Polymyalgia rheumatica, an age-related rheumatic disease,” which was published by OBM Geriatrics in 2022. So far, her work has been read by over 3,500 professionals.
