Zbigniew Tarkowski

Head of Department of Pathology and Rehabilitation of Speech, Medical University of Lublin, Poland.
Zbigniew Tarkowski is a civil engineering technician by education. Although he did not attend any polytechnic, he has built three houses for his family, all in beautiful surroundings. He graduated from Faculty of Education and Psychology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University and completed Postgraduate Logopaedic Studies. Being a researcher and therapist, he specialises in psychogenic speech disorders (stuttering, mutism, etc.). Dr. Tarkowski developed standardised and normalised tests (e.g., Language Skills Test), scales (e.g., Reaction to Speech Disfluency Scale), questionnaires (e.g., Questionnaire about Speech Fluency Disorders Questionnaire) and therapeutic programmes (e.g., Systems Therapy of Stuttering). He has authored numerous articles and monographs. His most recent publications include: A New Approach to Stuttering. Diagnosis and Therapy (2017), Speech Pathologies (2017), and Children with Behavioural, Emotional and Speech Disorders (2016). He has been working at the Medical University of Lublin as a full professor for many years. Dr. Tarkowski was previously the chairman of the Polish Logopaedic Society and remains a board member.
