Yoji Koyama graduated from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Course of International Relations and Area Studies in 1967. He gradually shifted from International Relations to Economics. He was also a visiting scholar in Belgrade from October 1978 through March 1980 under the Yugoslav government fellowship scheme. Currently, he is a member of the Japan Association for Comparative Economic Studies.
