Professor Wei Xiao was born in 1961. Professor Xiao has worked in many roles including the Director of the Hunan Institute of Economic Geography, the President of the Journal of Economic Geography, enjoys special government allowances of the state council, worked in the “121 Talents Project” in the new century of the Hunan Province, is an expert in the national press and publication, a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Society of Natural Resources, director of the Society Resources Engineering Branch of China’s Hunan Province Society of Natural Resources, Vice Director of Hunan Geography. Her main research directions include soil ecological governance, land resources and regional economy research. Professor Xiao has a long-term commitment to resource science and applied resource development research. She has presided over and participated in more than 50 scientific research projects related to heavy metal pollution control in soil at the national and provincial levels, comprehensive treatment of purple soil hilly area, agricultural division, land development and improvement and planning. She has won 2 provincial science and technology progress second prizes, 3 provincial third prizes, 3 provincial fourth prizes, and 1 provincial social science special award. She has won 7 awards for scientific and technological achievements at or above the national and provincial levels, and published more than 40 papers and 5 books and won more than 10 national and provincial excellent papers awards.
