Wellington Pinheiro dos Santos is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Campina Grande, Brazil, in 2009. He is interested in how early diagnosis based on signals and images could be improved by using Artificial Intelligence, especially in diseases like breast cancer and Alzheimer’s. His main research interests are applied artificial intelligence in health, artificial neural networks, evolutionary computation, image diagnosis, computer-aided diagnostic systems, applied neuroscience, serious games, and innovation in health.
