Warren D. TenHouten is currently Research Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles. His fields of interest include neurosociology, the sociology of emotions, time-consciousness, and alienation theory. His books include Time and Society (SUNY Press 2000), A General Theory of Emotions and Social Life (Routledge 2007), Emotion and Reason: Mind, Brain, and the Social Domains of Work and Love (Routledge 2013), and Alienation and Affect (Routledge 2017). His current projects involve social exchange theory, emotion theory (with an emphasis on modeling sociocognitive appraisal processes and the classification of emotions), social-relational-models theory, and social exchange theory.
