After graduating from Leningrad State University, Vitaly Chmyrev worked more than 40 years at two institutes of Russian Academy of Sciences, first at the Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation and then at the Institute of Physics of the Earth. Since 2004 he is also Director General of the GEOSCAN Technologies corp.
