Thembinkosi Donald Malevu, PhD
Lecturer, University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Dr. T.D Malevu is a lecturer in the physics department at UKZN. He holds a PhD degree in physics from UFS. His research interests lie in the characterization of metal oxide and perovskites nanoparticles using a variety of experimental techniques to investigate the relationship between structural and UV properties of nanoparticles and the behaviors at interfaces and surfaces. These types of materials find applications in a wide variety of fields including renewable energy.
He has years of firsthand work experience in semiconductors, particularly energy, sensors and developing new methods of semiconductor characterization as well as in electronics instrumentation particularly for low-cost instrumentation for developing countries. Also, he has developed methods to implement low-cost solar cells using lead perovskite synthesized from abundant depleted lead accumulators.
