Tamara M. Burkat got the Diploma of Engineer Chemist (1960) in the Leningrad Technological Institute and awarded Ph.D. (1967) in the Institute of Oil Chemistry. In 1967 she was appointed as senior research fellow and later (1972) as an associate professor staying in this position till the retirement in 2005. Professor T. M. Burkat published about 50 papers and is staying the acknowledged specialist in the porous glass knowledge with all details of its synthesis and handling.
