Shunsei Hirohata graduated from The University of Tokyo School of Medicine in 1980, and joined the Department of Medicine and Physical Therapy. He performed his postdoctoral fellowship in The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas between 1986-1988. He was appointed as an associated professor in Teikyo University School of Medicine in 1992, and to the professorship in Kitasato University School of Medicine in 2006.
