Sevgi Durna Daştan is Professor in the Department of Biology, Division of Molecular Biology at Faculty of Science, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Turkey. She earned a master’s (2006) and doctorate (2011) degree in Molecular Biology from Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Department of Biology. Her master’s thesis was a mitochondrial phylogenetic analysis of a Garra rufa and Cyprinion macrostomus fish species known as “Doctor Fishes” in Sivas Kangal Balıklı Spa. Her doctorate thesis focused on human chemokine gene polymorphisms. Her areas of interest are genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, pharmacogenetics, disease genetics, population genetics and gene polymorphisms, biochemistry, bioorganic synthesis, and drug design.
