Seki A. Balogun, MBBS, FACP, AGSF is an Associate Professor of Medicine and academic geriatrician at the University of Virginia Health System (UVA), Charlottesville, Virginia, United States, where she currently serves as the Director of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program and Medical Director of a continuing care retirement community. As a Nigerian-American with medical training in Nigeria and the United States, she has had the privilege of providing medical care for older patients over three decades, in both countries and has an astute awareness of the different health issues faced by older patients across racial groups and ethnicities.
She was inducted into the University of Virginia Academy of Distinguished Educators in 2006 and is the recipient of numerous academic teaching and clinical awards including University of Virginia School of Medicine Excellence in Teaching award, UVA Department of Medicine Outstanding Clinical Care Award, U.S. News and World Report Top Doctors in Virginia, and Top Geriatrician in Charlottesville, VA, Top Doctors Magazine. She has authored many peer reviewed publications and is co-editor for the book, Chronic Kidney Disease: Signs/Symptoms, Management Options and Potential Complications.
