Professor, Vegetable Science, Division of Vegetable Science, Faculty of Horticulture, SKUAST-Jammu

Dr. Kumar is presently working as a professor in the Division of Vegetable Science, Faculty of Horticulture & Forestry, SKUAST of Jammu. He was born on July 16th, 1973, in the State of Himachal Pradesh. He completed his bachelor’s in agriculture from HPKV, Palampur in 1996 and completed his master’s (1998) and doctorate (2002) in Horticulture (Vegetable Science) from Dr. YSPUHF, Nauni, Solan, H. P. From 2003-2004, he worked as a DAAD Post Doctoral Fellow at the Institute of Organic Agriculture, University of Bonn, Germany. He has over 18 years of research experience. He has handled 5 externally funded projects as P.I. and 5 as Co-P.I. (HTMM, RKVY, MIDH, DBT, DST, ICAR funded). So far, he has guided 1 Ph.D. student and 8 master’s students as a major advisor as well as 5 Ph.D. students and 8 master’s students as co-advisor. Presently, he is guiding 2 Ph.D. students as major advisor and 4 as co-advisor. He has published 45 research papers in various journals of national and international repute, and he has authored 12 book chapters, 14 technical bulletins and various articles in newspapers and magazines. He is life member of 4 societies and a member of a journal’s editorial board.
