Sandra Kraljević Pavelić, PhD (Editor)

Full Professor at the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia.

Full Professor Sandra Kraljević Pavelić was born in Umag (Croatia) in 1974 and graduated at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Croatia in 1997 (Professor of Biology) where she obtained her MSc. in Science in 2003 (antiviral drug research) and her PhD (cancer gene therapy) in 2006. From 2002 – 2009, she was employed at the “Ruđer Bošković” Institute in Zagreb, Croatia as assistant in the field of drug development and gene therapy. From 2009 – 2020 she was employed at the University of Rijeka, Department of Biotechnology where she led and established the Centre for High-throughput Technologies (2015-2018). As of 2020, she is Full Professor at the Faculty of Health Studies at University of Rijeka. Since 2014, she is a member of the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) medicine panel, and since 2017 she is a member of the European Science Foundation (ESF, Strasbourg, France) biomedical panel. She was Head of the Doctoral School of the University of Rijeka from 2018 – 2021. Since October 2021, she has been a regular member of International Academy of Science and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She leads or led 7 domestic and international projects, applied projects, coordinated one EU project. She mentored or co-mentored 3 final theses, 21 graduate (MSc.) theses, 13 doctoral (PhD.) dissertations. Her scientific work covers the area of drug development, integrative medicine, biomarkers, zeolite clinoptilolite medical applications and microbiome research (ORCID: 0000-0003-0491-673X).
