Professor Sachith Mettananda, MBBS, MD, DPhil(Oxon), FRCP(Edin) is currently a Professor in Paediatrics and Head of the Department of Paediatrics at University of Kelaniya and a Consultant Paediatrician at Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Ragama, Sri Lanka. He has over fifteen years of experience in treating patients with paediatric red blood cell disorders and teaching medical undergraduates and postgraduate trainees in paediatrics. He has authored many book chapters and numerous research publications of which many are in high impact journals. He has also served in the capacity of a council member of the Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians, Founder Secretary of the Rare Disease Forum of Sri Lanka and member of the National Thalassaemia Council and National Health Research Council of Sri Lanka.
