Dr. S. R. Savithri completed his BSc (Speech & Hearing), MSc (Speech & Hearing), and PhD (Speech & Hearing) from the All India Institute of Speech & Hearing, Mysore, affiliated to the University of Mysore. She started her career as Research Assistant at the All India Institute of Speech & Hearing, Mysore in the year 1981, then became a faculty in 1986 and finally reached the topmost position of Director of the Institute which is under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. She has over 140 publications in national and international journals and has edited several books and journals. She has received several awards including Sir. C. V. Raman’s award for the best paper published in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of India, Sir. M. Visweswaraiah award as a woman scientist and several oration awards. She retired in July, 2017 as Director upon superannuation. However, the Government of India reappointed her for another year as Director and she superannuated in October 2018.
