Rosa María Alonso-Salces, PhD

Dr. Rosa M. Alonso-Salces made her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (Spain). Currently, Dr. Alonso-Salces is a researcher of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) at the UNMdP, and develops her research in two main fields: natural products and food quality and authentication. Regarding the natural products field, her research is focused on polyphenols in agricultural food products and by-products and their relationship with plant diseases as well as their use to control honeybee diseases. In the field of food quality and authentication, the aim of her research is the development of analytical methods for quality and/or authenticity control of agricultural food products (olive oil, honey). Dr. Alonso-Salces received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award 2005 granted by the UPV/EHU and the XI Felix Mocoroa Prize for Food Research awarded by UPV/EHU and the Basque Gastronomic Association. Dr. Alonso-Salces has directed and co-directed several master and doctoral students at UPV/EHU and UNMdP, and presently is directing two doctoral theses. Dr. Alonso-Salces has published 27 research articles in peer reviewed scientific journals, and is the author of 3 book chapters, one book and about 60 communications to national and international conferences and scientific meetings. Dr. Alonso-Salces participates in several research projects funded by European Commission, MINCYT, ANPCyT, CIC and UNMdP, and is reviewer for several peer reviewed scientific journals and evaluator of ANPCYT research projects.
