Ravindra Varma Alluri, PhD (Editor)

Associate Principal Scientist, Clinical Pharmacology and Safety Sciences, AstraZeneca R&D, Cambridge, UK.

Dr. Ravindra is an Associate Principal Scientist (Systems Medicine) at AstraZeneca, United Kingdom. He did his Postdoctoral research in drug transporters at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, USA. He has around 18 years of experience in the field of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics and in silico modelling (statistical, mechanistic and PBPK). During his tenure, he worked with several Pharmaceutical companies, where he made significant contributions to the advancement of candidate drugs into clinical development by developing several key DMPK assays, modelling approaches and strategies. He led DMPK teams, worked extensively in the field of drug transporters, transporter-enzyme interplay and drug-drug interactions. He has developed/applied mechanistic and Physiological Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling approaches to investigate the role of efflux transporters and enzymes in altering oral drug absorption and disposition. As a member of IQ Consortium, he has contributed to advancing the application of PBPK models for predicting the impact of food on oral drug absorption. He has mentored students, post-docs and colleagues throughout his industrial career and his tenure as a post-doctoral research associate. He presented his research at several scientific meetings such as AAPS, DMDG and GRC. He has 11 publications, including 2 book chapters.
