Dr. Prebble Q Ramswell is a political sociologist and analyst who spent six years working in Counterterrorism for the Central Intelligence Agency. Upon moving to Florida in 2009, Ramswell embraced a new challenge: running for City Council in March 2014. Her successful bid for Councilwoman led to state appointments on the Growth Management and Economic Development Board and the International Relations Committee with the Florida League of Cities. In July 2014, Ramswell was appointed by Florida Senate President Don Gaetz to serve on the Board of Directors of the Senate Committee for Veterans and, in 2016, was elected by the city council to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Ramswell was reelected to a second four-year term in 2018, and was subsequently reappointed by fellow council and Mayor to serve as Mayor Pro Tem through 2020.

In 2016 and 2018, Ramswell was selected as a recipient of the Home Rule Hero Award from the Florida League of Cities. The honor is awarded to officials across the state of Florida who have been determined to be outspoken lobbyists for municipal home rule during the previous legislative session.
Ramswell is the Academic Program Director for History, Philosophy and Political Science at Columbia Southern University and serves as graduate and undergraduate faculty in the International Security and Intelligence Studies Program at Bellevue University. She also serves as adjunct faculty for Florida State University.

Ramswell earned BAs in Political Science, Psychology and Sociology and from the University of Houston, a Masters in Liberal Arts/Social Sciences from Texas Christian University, and a PhD in Political Science/International Development from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is the author of Euroscepticism and the Rising Threat from the Left and Right: The Concept of Millennial Fascism (2017) and Division, Derision and Decisions: The Domino Effect of Brexit and Populism’s Intersection of Rights and Wrongs (2018). Her third book, due in 2021, is a follow-up to her second and called: The Rise of Domestic Terrorism and Decline Of American Democracy: How Brexit And The Trump Presidency Influenced Populist Empowerment & the Intersection of Rights. Ramswell and her husband, Anthony, live in Destin, Florida, with their daughter, Briar.
