Phil Kennedy, MD, PhD, works as a neuroscientist and neurologist. He is chief scientist and CEO of Neural Signals Inc which he founded in 1989. The company is the leader in the field of Brain to Machine Interfacing. He has been developing and implanting the neurotrophic electrode since 1986 for long term recording of brain signals. Brain implantation has been performed in four locked-in subjects with a view to providing communication with a computer. He has implanted another subject in an attempt to restore speech and in 2014 he had himself implanted. His work has been published in major scientific journals and has been funded by the NIH and other agencies. He also has a part time neurology practice.
