Peter Shurulinkov was born in Sofia, on 25.12.1975. Studied in National School for Mathematics and Life Sciences in Sofia 1989 -1993. Afterwards (1993-1998) studied in Sofia University, specialty “Zoology and Antropology”, specialization on verterbrate zoology. Became PhD student in the Institute of Zoology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 2000. In 2003 obtained PhD degree with thesis on the blood parasites of wild birds in Bulgaria. In 2009 declared as Associate Professor in zoology in the Institute of Zoology. Since 2010 working in the National History Museum, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Interests in ornithology, parasitology, ecology and nature conservation. Author of 107 scientific articles and two books in the fields of ornithology, ecology and parasitology. Active bird ringer since 1990. Married, with two children.
