Peter Stanislavov Shurulinkov, PhD

Peter Shurulinkov was born in Sofia, on 12/25/1975. He studied at the National School for Mathematics and Life Sciences at Sofia University during 1989 to 1993. From 1993 to 1998 he studied “Zoology and Anthropology”, specializing in vertebrate zoology at Sofia University. Shurulinkiv became a PhD student at the Institute of Zoology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 2000. In 2003 he obtained a PhD degree with a thesis on the study of blood parasites of wild birds in Bulgaria. In 2009 he became an Associate Professor in zoology at the Institute of Zoology. Since 2010 he worked in the National History Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He is interested in ornithology, parasitology, ecology and nature conservation. Shurulinkov is the author of 107 scientific articles and two books in the fields of ornithology, ecology and parasitology. He is an active bird ringer since 1990 and he is married with children.
