Dr. Nishant Rai is a gold medalist in M.Sc. Microbiology (2000) and completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology (2004) from Gurukula Kangri University, Haridwar and is presently working as Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Graphic Era Deemed to be University, Dehradun. He has over 19 years of teaching and research experience and has worked as Research Associate under NATP. TOE. VVT project at IVRI, Bareilly.

He has published 71 National and International research papers, 15 GenBank submissions and 08 book/book chapters. He has filed 2 patents in India and 1 PCT. He has been a recipient of the research excellence award in 2012, 2015 and 2018 at Graphic Era Deemed to be University, University and Research Excellence Award-2020 by Action for Sustainable, Efficacious Development & Awareness, Rishikesh in 8th International Conference on Technology, Innovation and Management for Sustainable Development in 2020. He has been a Co-PI of project funded by Uttarakhand Council of Biotechnology. He is Chief Editor of the journal Biotechnology International, Assistant Editor of Environment Conservation Journal, Journal of Graphic Era University, and is a reviewer of several National and International high impact factor journals.
