Prof NC Gautam is having more than 40 years of teaching experience at UG and PG courses at University level. He is the author of 18 Widely accepted reference books by the Indian Universities and published more than 80 Research papers in the Journals of International repute with high Impact Factor. Prof. Gautam visited Japan, U.S.A., Israil, Philippines and other European countries as a Visiting professor. He received several Honours and awards and some worth mentioning are B.P. Gupt Medal 2015 for the outstanding contribution in Vegetable breeding. Achievement Award of CHAI 2014, Bioved Award-2014, Hi-Tech Agriculture 2013. Rishi Award by BHU, Varanasi, Vigyan Bhusan, Observer award, Young Scientist Award, Life Time achievement Award by NDUA&T, Faizabad, Rajiv Gandhi Rastriya Ekta Award 2004, Indira Priyadarshini Award-2002 for contribution to development of education and some more awards from public and private sectors. He has been Fellows of Indian society of Vegetable Science, Indian Botanical Society. Prof. Gautam developed 27 Improved Varieties of vegetables. Prof. Gautam specialized in Plant breeding/ Vegetable breeding
