Completed Otolaryngology residency at the combined program of Boston University and Tufts University in 1990. Teachers and mentors included Stuart M. Strong, Stanley M. Shapshay, Charles W. Vaughan, Werner D. Chasin, Collin S. Karmody, Gerald B. Healy and Trevor McGill. Residency training in this program prepared me for a wonderful career in Otolaryngology. My mentors often questioned the status quo and asked whether there could be a better way of treating an otolaryngologic problem. I then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology with Robert M. Naclerio and Bernard Marsh who both furthered my interest in innovation. In addition, I had the opportunity to work with Charles W. Cummings, Douglas E. Mattox and David W. Kennedy. These leaders of our field all helped shape my career. My first position was at SUNY-Stonybrook but soon after joined Robert F. Ward in private practice in New York City. We joined the full time faculty at Weill Cornell Medical School in 2006. In 2013, we were recruited to NYU Langone Medical Center.
