Massimo Capoccia is an adult cardiac surgeon with broad clinical experience and particular emphasis on heart failure, transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and aortic surgery. He has significant knowledge of cardiovascular physiology with particular interest in cardiovascular engineering and patient-specific modelling to guide therapeutic intervention, device treatment optimization and outcome prediction.
Although he remains a full-time NHS professional, Massimo is quite research oriented as reflected by his additional qualifications and current enrolment as a part-time PhD student in Biomedical Engineering in the context of a busy clinical practice. He has also covered managerial and teaching roles in the last few years in relation to his seniority as a clinician. He is author of scientific publications and member of the Editorial Board of international journals.
