Dr. Maria Sakellariou is a Professor at the Department of Early Childhood Education, University of Ioannina and Director of the Pedagogical and Educational Methodology Laboratory. He was the Head of the Department of Early Childhood Education, University of Ioannina as well as Director of the Postgraduate Program in "Early Childhood Education."

Dr. Maria Sakellariou's research focuses on Pedagogy and Preschool / Early Childhood Education, particularly in the areas of Teaching Methodology, Curriculum Design, Evaluation, Social and Ethical Learning, Inclusive Education, Differentiated Teaching and Learning, and Game Teaching, as well as the School-Family-Community Partnership. She is a writer and co-publisher of 20 books and over 120 articles in peer-reviewed international journals.
