University Pavol Jozef Safarik Professor of Surgery; Chief of Dep. of Vascular Surgery, East Slovak Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Medical Faculty of Safarik University, Kosice, Slovakia.

Professor Mária Frankovičová is the first Professor of Surgery in the history of Slovak medicine. She was the head of the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice, as well as a Member of the Board of VÚSCH, a.s. (East Slovak Institute of Cardiovascular Disease). At the Faculty of Medicine, she teaches both Slovak and foreign medicine students, and trains future vascular surgeons – specialists.
