Mamuka Matsaberidze graduated with honors from the Georgian Polytechnic Institute in 1980, specializing in chemical engineering with a focus on organic and petrochemical synthesis. His career spans a wide array of scientific interests, from studying crystal structures to researching antiviral treatments like candidate molecules against SARS-CoV-2. He has contributed significantly to understanding HIV, influenza, cancer cell metastasis, and environmental pollution post-nuclear accidents. He is also dedicated to advancing Georgia’s chemical industry, exploring microencapsulation, “smart” materials, and the digitalization of chemical substances. Beyond science, he analyzes the societal impact of geopolitical conflicts like the Russian occupation of Abkhazia, proposing methodologies for economic assessment and commercializing scientific innovations.
