Lean Karlo Santos Tolentino received the B.S. (cum laude) in electronics and communications engineering from the Technological University of the Philippines, Manila, in 2010, the M.S. in electronics engineering (microelectronics) from Mapúa University, in 2015, and the Ph.D. in electrical engineering from National Sun Yat-Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 2024.

From 2010 to 2013, he was an IC Layout Engineer with the Mask Design Division, ROHM LSI Design Philippines, Inc., Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines. Since 2015, he has been an Associate Professor with TUP. He is also an Associate Professorial Lecturer at Mapua University since 2024. From 2017 to 2019, he was the Head (Chair) of the Department of Electronics Engineering, TUP. From 2019 to 2020, he was the Director of the Office of the University Extension Services (UES), TUP. As of March 2024, he has been the Dean of the College of Engineering, TUP. His research interests include artificial intelligence, IC design, and power electronics.

Dr. Tolentino has been a member of the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) since 2011, serving as Director of the Manila Chapter since 2022. Since 2017, he has served on three technical committees of the Bureau of Philippine Standards: Audio, Video, and Multimedia Equipment (TC 59); Electromagnetic Compatibility (TC 74); and Information Technology/Subcommittee on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies (TC 60/SC 4). He is one of the 2025 International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Young Professionals from the Republic of the Philippines. Since 2022, he has served on the Subcommittee for General Engineering and Applied Sciences (GEAS), Philippines, which develops syllabi and tables of specifications for the Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination (EELE) and the Electronics Technicians Licensure Examination (ETLE). In 2019, he was elected as a Regular Member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP). From 2022 to 2023, he was the elected President of the Association of Filipino Scholars in Taiwan (AFST). He holds a valid license as a Professional Electronics Engineer (PECE) in the Philippines and was conferred as ASEAN Engineer. Since 2024, he has been the Interim Chair of the IECEP Microelectronics Society. IEEE conferred Senior Member status upon him. Since 2025, he has been the Chair of the IEEE Control Systems Society Chapter of the IEEE Philippines Section.
