Lawrence S. Chan

Dr. Lawrence S. Chan graduated from Massachusetts Institutes of Technology with double B.S. degrees in Life Sciences and Chemical Engineering. He subsequently attended University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree there. After a fellowship in Biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania Scheie Eye Institute, Dr. Chan completed his internship training at the Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center, and then obtained his residency training in Dermatology and a fellowship in Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical Center. After a short stint at the Wayne State University Medical School, Dr. Chan served as a junior faculty member at the Northwestern University for nine years, before he became an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Chan is a now a full Professor and the Department Head there. He has served as principle investigator of independent research grants supported by the Dermatology Foundation, Veterans Administration, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Chan has published two books, and over 30 book chapters, and more than 100 peer-reviewed biomedical articles.
