Dr. Shamshina is an Assistant Professor at the Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute, the Department of Plant and Soil Science, Texas Tech University. Dr. Shamshina’s research interests focus on all aspects of biopolymer processing (with an emphasis on chitin polymer), from fundamental properties to material preparation, using Green Chemistry methods. She is particularly interested in potential industrial uses of biopolymers in high-value materials, with an ultimate goal of finding alternatives for synthetic plastics.
