Ms Inge Sonn (BSc. Occupational Therapy, M Occupational Therapy) is a qualified Occupational Therapist and currently a researcher specializing in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and community at the University of the Western Cape. She has held the position as a lecturer in paediatric Occupational therapy and community development (2008 -2018) at the Occupational Therapy Department at the University of the Western Cape. She has obtained her master’s degree (M.OT) at the University of Stellenbosch specializing in pediatrics. Subsequently, she is a consultant on the Early Learning Outcomes Measure, which is a South African pre-school child assessment tool. Ms Inge Sonn’s research focus is to understand and develop best practice and evidence-based guidelines for parents and caregivers through play to facilitate all areas of early child development within an African context, as reflected in her PhD topic: Developing guidelines for parents to implement developmental play during parent-child play interaction in the first 1000 days of life. She has published articles in ECD and community development fieldwork and has presented at national and international conferences.
