Guillermo Alzate-Espinosa is an Associated Professor in the Petroleum Engineering Program for the Department of Energy and Processes, Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He is currently the director of the Research Group in Applied Geomechanics (GIGA). His research interests include thermal recovery process and mechanisms, evaluation and monitoring of geological formations with open and cased-hole logging, geomechanics applied to reservoir engineering, hydraulic fracturing, and sand production. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA).
