Gennady A. Leonov was Dean of the Mathematics and Mechanics Faculty of Saint Petersburg State University (Russian Federation) for 30 consecutive years till the last day of his life, April 23, 2018. His honors and awards included being a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a Foreign Member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, a Council Member of the International Federation of Automatic Control (2011-2017), a Highly Cited Researcher in the Russian Federation. During his life, he authored/co-authored more than 500 publications, 20 monographs, supervised five Doctors of Science (a habilitation degree), 16 Doctors of Philosophy, and 37 Candidates of Science.
