As a pro-feminist and womanist-identified black male professor, I teach literature that contests systemic and institutionalized forms of oppression and domination. My aim is to enable students to comprehend the personal, political, and spiritual power of writing that upholds human rights and social justice for all people—across differences of race, gender, class, sexuality, and nation-state affiliation.
