Dr. Halkia was born in Pireaus, Greece. She received her MD. degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Medical School (GR).
She then received surgical training and did research in the United States of America (USA), at Spring Branch Memorial Hospital Houston Texas (Academic Supervisor Prof. D.Boulafendis), and at Louisiana State University Health Science Center (LSUHSC), Medical School (Acad.Superv. Prof. J.P.O’Leary, Prof.J.Miller), New Orleans, LA. She completed the United States Medical Licensure curriculum and was certified in 2007, in Houston Texas, USA.

She returned to Greece and completed a certified training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Skilitsio General Hospital in Chios, Metaxa Cancer Hospital and Tzaneio General Hospital in Pireaus, GR.

She completed a 2 year clinical fellowship in Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) and received her degree from the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) and Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI) with clinical rotations at Washington Cancer Institute, Washington DC, USA, Gustave Roussy Cancer Hospital, Villejuif, France, and University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, University of Murcia, Spain (Academic Supervisors, Prof. P.H.Sugarbaker, Prof. D.Elias, Prof. P.A.Cascales-Campos).

Dr. Halkia worked for 3 years as a Surgical Director at IASO General Hospital, Cholargos,(GR) at the Clinic for Peritoneal Surface Malignancy and for 1 year as a Consultant at REA Maternity and Gynecology Hospital, P.Faliro (GR). She then worked for 3 years as a Consultant at ATTIKON University Teaching Hospital, Dept.of Ob/Gyn, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Cholargos (GR). Currently, she works as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Tzaneio General Hospital,Pireaus (GR) Dept. of Ob/Gyn.

Dr. Halkia received her Master of Science Degree (MSc) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School (Subject: High Risk Pregnancy) and is currently a Doctoral candidate (PhD) at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School (Subject : Soft Tissue Sarcoma Immune Microenvironment) with Academic Supervisor Professor of Surgery and President of the Medical School of Athens, N. Arkadopoulos.

Dr. Halkia is the founder and president of the Hellenic Education Company in Oncology and Imaging “Hippocrates”, Ymitou & John Kennedy 35, Athens, GR.
