Dieter Rehder studied Chemistry and Astronomy in Hamburg, where he also attained his academic degrees and was appointed Professor for Chemistry. His foreign teaching appointments include the College of Arts, Science and Technology in Kingston, Jamaica, and the Lund University, Sweden. He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, focusing on Bioinorganic Chemistry. He received the Vanadis award in 2006.
