Diego Sampedro received his PhD degree in 2001. After a postdoctoral stay in the Università degli Studi di Siena working in computational organic photochemistry, he returned to Spain with a ‘‘Ramón y Cajal’’ research contract. Since 2009 he is Associate Professor at the Universidad de La Rioja. His research focuses on organic photochemistry both computational and experimental including the design of molecular photoswitches, photoprotective compounds and biological applications of photoactive species. In addition, he is active in the field of popularization of science.
