David Shemoqmedeli was born, on 8 April, 1953 in Ozurgeti, Georgia. He is published poet and essayst. He published his first book of poetry in 1981. Currently, he is the president of Rustaveli society of Georgia, which strives in order to promote Georgian culture and letters.
