Claudio De Lazzari is a graduate in Electronic Engineering from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’. Since 1987 he has been a research scientist at the Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.) in the Institute of Clinical Physiology in Rome (IFC). He is Head of “Cardiovascular Numerical/Hybrid Modelling Lab” at IFC-CNR and Head of “Telecardiology & Clinical Applications of Numerical Modelling of Biological Systems” Research Unit of the National Institute for Cardiovascular Research (I.N.R.C.).
His main interests are: software development for modelling and simulation of the cardiovascular system and mechanical assist devices; modelling of the respiratory system and its interaction during mechanical ventilation and circulatory support; clinical data validation; e-learning and training through simulation for medical, nursing and engineering professionals; telecardiology in relation to wearable devices for distant data analysis; numerical modelling of stem cell therapy for the analysis of nutrient transport and cell proliferation in the ischaemic myocardium.
He is project evaluator and reviewer in the UE e-Health and m-Health sectors including national and international research agencies. He is author of over 200 scientific publications including chapters and books. He has served as a member of the Editorial Board for several international journals. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the I.N.R.C. and a consultant for the Department of Biomedical Science of C.N.R. Finally, he received the title of “DOCTOR HONORIS CAUSA” from Teaching University GEOMEDI (Georgia) in November 2015.
