Carla Patricio Fernandes is an invited Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Department of Political Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the NOVA University; IPRI-NOVA Integrated Researcher and the Research coordinator of the FCT project “GEO4GER - The Geopolitics of Gas and the Future of Euro-Russian Relation” (FCT - PTDC/IVC-CPO/1295/2014). She is also associate researcher at the Research Center for Security and Defense at the Military University Institute and member of the Energy Security Studies Group of the National Defense Institute (IDN). She is a National Defense Adviser (2010). She has a degree in History and Social Sciences by the University of Minho, a Master’s Degree in Chinese Studies by the University of Aveiro and a PhD in International Relations, specialization in Political Studies by NOVA University, She is the author of various articles and books published in the areas of energy security, energy and China.
