C. Shinn is a Biologist with a PhD degree in Aquatic Ecotoxicology obtained in 2010 at Université de Toulouse, France. Her first post-doctorate project involved coordinating a 3-country collaboration (Portugal, Germany and Brazil), studying the impact of a fungicide on aquatic mesocosms in different climates while based at MARE, Universidade de Coimbra. In 2014 C. Shinn started a 1-year project in Ibarra, Ecuador, working on monitoring and ecological restoration of an eutrophic high mountain lake in collaboration with the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador Sede Ibarra. Towards the end of 2015 she moved to Colombia to become part of an international permaculture movement, developing educational and agroecological transition programs at ecofarms and schools.
