António Vieira is a geographer and holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Coimbra (Portugal). He is an assistant professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Minho, developing research activities as an integrated member of the Center of Studies of Communication and Society (CECS – UMinho). He is a member of several scientific organizations, including the Portuguese Association of Geomorphologists (APGeom) and the Portuguese Association of Risk, Prevention and Security. Some of his research topics are related with natural hazards, namely geomorphological hazards, forest fires and soil erosion, as well as geoheritage and geotourism and the use of geographic information systems and remote sensing for spatial analysis.
