Alexander Pavlenko was born in Taganrog (the then Soviet Union, the Russian Federation) in 1962.
Academic training:
1) 1979 -1984 faculty of foreign languages (section of English and Spanish) of Taganrog State Teachers' Training Institute (Taganrog, Russian Federation). Specialist’s degree (qualification-a teacher of English and Spanish).
2) 1990-1994 a full-time Candidate course in linguistics at the Institute of Linguistic Studies of Russian Academy of Sciences (department of Indo-European and Comparative Studies) in St. Petersburgh. In 1994 Candidate’s degree in linguistics (PhD).
3) In 2000 I started working on my dissertation devoted to Scots as an endangered regional language of Western Europe in the Institute of Linguistic Studies of Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2004 I successfully defended my dissertation and was awarded the title of Doctor.
Career:
1) Taganrog State University of Radioengineering, the department of foreign languages – 1986-2000 (assistant professor, later associate professor)
2) From 2000 to 2015 - associate professor; professor and head of department of foreign languages at Taganrog Institute of Management and Economics
3) Since 2015 - professor of department of English at A.P.Chekhov Institute of Taganrog (branch of) Rostov State University of Economics (RINH)
He has authored about 100 papers, 4 monographs, and 10 course-books, participated with papers in international conferences in the UK, Greece, Norway, Turkey, Italy, etc., and won international bursaries and fellowships.
