Alena completed her psychology studies at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University in Prague, the Czech Republic. She is a registered clinical neuropsychologist and cognitive behavioural therapist and works as the head of the Department of Clinical Psychology of the Královské Vinohrady University Hospital in Prague. Her speciality is the neuropsychological testing of cognitive functions. In cooperation with the Motol University Hospital she engages in pre-operative examination of cognitive functions in epileptic patients. In psychotherapy she specialises in coping with chronic disease. She gives lectures on medical psychology (needs in the context of the nursing process and research in nursing) and pedagogical psychology as part of the under-graduate education of medical students and nurses at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Prague; she also gives lectures on neuropsychology as part of the post-graduate education of clinical psychologists, medical doctors and physiotherapists.
