Akesha Horton, PhD, is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Department of Informatics at Indiana University, USA. She earned her doctorate in Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Policy from Michigan State University, USA. She has taught and developed courses in curriculum and instruction, design thinking, educational leadership, hip-hop pedagogy, Indigenous education, national strategy and security studies, research methods, and urban education. She has been an active agent in a plethora of experiences in school and out-of-school urban settings, higher education, instructional design, educational technologies, e-learning, and curriculum development. In addition, she has served on the board of several national educational organizations.
