Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is one of the most potent and specific angiogenic factors. The physiologic roles of VEGF in humans include neovascularization and endometrium implantation, and in pathological processes VEGF has been involved in the initation, growth, and metastasis of tumors.
