ABSTRACT

Pain management in children with cerebral palsy is a complex process. Due to communication and cognitive challenges, accurately assessing pain in these children is difficult. We suggest a multidimensional approach to pain evaluation, considering both acute and chronic pain. A biopsychosocial model is proposed as a framework for understanding pain in these children. This model considers the interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors. Interoceptive sensitivity is crucial, enhancing the ability to perceive and interpret internal bodily sensations. Body-psychological approaches are suggested to improve interoceptive awareness in children with cerebral palsy. These approaches include techniques like mindfulness and relaxation to help children become more attuned to their internal states. Overall, we advocate for a holistic approach to pain management in children with cerebral palsy, incorporating both physical and psychological interventions to improve their quality of life.
